Thomas Robbery Arrest
Early Saturday morning, July 7th, 2012 at approximately 2:13am, Auburn Police Officers were dispatched to a West Street address on the report of a robbery/assault to a 32 year old female victim. The victim reported that she was walking home when she was attacked from behind by at least two people who reportedly struck her numerous times about the head and face knocking the victim to the ground. The victim reports once she was on the ground she was knocked unconscious and when she awoke her wallet, cell phone and money were stolen from her shorts pockets. The victim was subsequently transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment of several cuts and contusions to her face as well as a broken nose.
While Patrol Officer Steven Deyo was checking the area for the suspects he stopped a male walking in the area of Van Anden Street and N. Division Street. Upon interview of the subject who identified himself as Devon Thomas, he admitted that he was on parole. It was ultimately discovered that Thomas was also in possession of the victim’s wallet, cell phone and what is believed to be the U.S. currency also stolen from the victim.
Upon further interview and investigation by Det. Christopher McLoughlin, Thomas was subsequently arrested for robbery 2nd and assault 2nd. It was also confirmed that Thomas is currently under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (Parole) for an Attempted Burglary 2nd conviction.
