Press Release – Scott Arrests
At 3:17am Saturday March 16, 2013, Auburn Police Officers responded to 73 Wall Street on the report of a domestic disturbance involving two brothers. Upon Officers arrival the two brothers Kenneth Scott Jr. and Martin Scott were actively involved in a loud and tumultuous argument with each other in front of their home. Police attempted to calm the parties down and resolve the situation but both Scott’s refused to listen to police orders.
Martin Scott was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct for making unreasonable noise and using abusive and obscene language in the front yard of his home. As Martin Scott was being placed into a patrol vehicle Kenneth Scott Jr. became agitated towards Police and began yelling and swearing. Scott Jr. was then advised he was under arrest as well and when Police went to take him into custody Scott Jr. attempted to run from Police. A short struggle ensued and Scott Jr. was eventually taken into custody.
During Scott Jr.’s arrest his father Kenneth Scott Sr. arrived on scene and tried to interfere with his son’s arrest by pushing arresting Officers who were placing Scott Jr. into custody. Officer’s then attempted to place Scott Sr. under arrest and he began to resist. During the struggle to place Scott Sr. into custody he proceeded to punch one Officer in the face and caused a hand injury to another Officer. Scott Sr. was subsequently taken into custody. Both Officers’ sought treatment of their injuries at Auburn Community Hospital and were both released back to duty.
All three Scott’s were transported to Auburn Police Headquarters and processed. Martin Scott was subsequently released on an appearance ticket pending his arraignment in Auburn City Court on Thursday March 21, 2013. Scott Jr. and Scott Sr. were both arraigned by Judge McKeon at Auburn City Court at 9:15am this morning and subsequently remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
