Auburn Police Department Command

Captain Augello (Patrol Captain)

Directs largest division of Auburn Police Department – patrol.

Supervises 3 lieutenants in the operation of their shifts

Coordinates functions of the Patrol Division with other divisions in the department, with other law enforcement agencies, and with other governmental agencies

Issues written and verbal orders to patrol and insures professionalism throughout the Patrol Division.


Captain Delfavero (Detective Bureau / Narcotics Captain)

Supervisor for 4 detectives. Detectives investigate felonies and serious crimes which may require in depth and lengthy investigations, which may require a multitude of techniques and various resources, including inter-agency and multi-jurisdictional cooperation.

Oversees 2 Identification officers who are responsible for safe guarding, storing, and processing property and evidence secured by APD in the course of criminal investigations and daily operations.

Oversees the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, consisting of 1 sergeant and 3 officers. The taskforce is responsible for conducting narcotics investigations. One officer is assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency in the Syracuse office.


Captain Casper (Planning and Training Captain)

Identifies through analysis of records, personal observation and recommendations from the command staff, areas in which training is needed

Develops and coordinates a comprehensive, cost effective, program of continuous in-service training, making use of local resources within and outside the department, which will provide for the needs of the individual officers and of the Auburn Police Dept.

Reviews, analyzes and modernizes all department plans, including operational plans in order to assure that they are recorded and up to date.

Reviews, analyzes and modernizes all dept. policies and procedures.

Coordinates the field training program that is required of police officer candidates prior to graduation from the police academy.

Coordinates and manages the department’s criminal justice internship program in conjunction with area colleges that qualify.

                                                                     Supervises the department’s Records Bureau.
