How do I obtain a copy of an accident report or police report?
ANSWER: If you are involved in an accident, please come down to the Records Office at the Police Department between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM, with photo ID. Copies are 25 cents per page.
What do I need to apply for a personal ID?
ANSWER: To apply for a personal ID, you will need to visit the Identification Bureau in the Auburn Police Department and fill out an application. Application and requirements can be found in the “Forms and Documents” section of this website.
How do I find out if I have an active warrant?
ANSWER: If you are unsure if the Auburn Police Department has a warrant for your arrest, please call the command desk at 315-253-3235, or visit the “Most Wanted” section of our website.
I need a background check for a job. Where can I obtain one?
ANSWER:You can obtain a local criminal background check by visiting the Records Office at the Police Department, with photo ID. There is a $10.00 fee. Please note this is only a check for the City of Auburn, and not for the County or the State.

Do I have to give my name when calling 911?
ANSWER: No, your calls can remain anonymous
My license plates were taken by the police. How do I get them back?
ANSWER: If the Auburn Police Department has taken your plates, visit the Identification Bureau of APD with proper I.D. The Bureau will issue you a letter to take to the DMV. This letter will advise DMV that APD does have your plates as evidence. New plates will then be issued by the DMV. The Auburn Police Department must retain all license plates taken into evidence.
I need to get fingerprinted? What do I need to do.
ANSWER: The Identification Bureau performs fingerprinting for the public on Wednesday’s between 9:00 and 11:30 AM. Please see fingerprinting instructions in the “Forms and Documents” section.
